Invited Talk: Sarah S. Richardson (Havard University) “The Maternal Imprint: Epigenetics and the Contested Science of Maternal-Fetal Effects”
Monday, November 22nd, 2021, 6-8pm (CEST)
Sarah S. Richardson will speak on her new book, The Maternal Imprint (Chicago, 2021). The book offers a critical analysis of conceptual and ethical issues—in particular, the staggering implications for maternal well-being and reproductive autonomy—provoked by the striking rise of epigenetics and fetal origins science in postgenomic biology today.
Speaker: Sarah S. Richardson is Professor of the History of Science and of Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Harvard University. She is the director of the Harvard GenderSci Lab, a collaborative, interdisciplinary research lab dedicated to generating concepts, methods, and theories for biomedical research on sex and gender.
Organiser: Professorship for Science & Technology Policy, Prof. Ruth Müller | TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology | Department of Science, Technology and Society (STS)
