Dr. Axel Kessler and Prof. Dr. Kai von Lewinski: „The governance of international data transfer: GDPR and the new guidelines of the European Data Protection Board“

On February 10th, Dr. Axel Kessler, Head of Data Privacy at Siemens, and Prof. Dr. Kai von Lewinski, Professor of Public Law, Media Law and Information Law at the University Passau, will discuss „The governance of international data transfer: GDPR and the new guidelines of the European Data Protection Board“ with Christian Djeffal; this talk is part of the Master’s seminar “Law and Digitization in Action: Current Debates”. This discussion on the latest developments in this area will focus on the recent case Schrems v Facebook (Schrems II). In addition, the question arises how a legally permissible transfer of data could look like. The European Data Protection Board for example put down recommendations on measures that supplement transfer tools to ensure compliance with the EU level of protection of personal data.
