Doctorate completed
On April 17, 2020, Carolin Thiem successfully completed the oral examination for her doctorate, in which she dealt with “It’s about doing something. On the transformation of private and public issues in participatory processes”.
Carolin Thiem’s doctoral project examines the question of the transformation of issues in participatory processes. The question is analysed on the basis of various (digital) participation formats, which are organized by public institutions. The approach of combining the concepts of design and publics makes it possible to question how citizens come together within participatory processes and stay together without focusing on their personal motivations.
