On December 8, 2021 Silvan Pollozek successfully completed the oral examination for his doctorate, in which he dealt with “Data circulation and the (re)configuration of European migration and border control. A praxeographic inquiry into the information infrastructure of the Frontex Joint Operation Poseidon.”
Based on a multi-sited ethnography, Silvan Pollozek’s dissertation develops multiple flat, symmetrical and complex accounts of the inter-organisational and transnational circulation of data in the realm of the Frontex Joint Operation Poseidon. By focusing on frictions and several modes of infrastructuring, it outlines a heterogeneous and fragmented data space and analyses the effects this information infrastructure has on practices and processes of European border control.
Congratulations to the future Dr. phil.!
