Doctorate completed
On December 8, 2021 Silvan Pollozek successfully completed the oral examination for his doctorate, in which he dealt with „Data circulation and the (re)configuration of European migration and border control. A praxeographic inquiry into the information infrastructure of the Frontex Joint Operation Poseidon.“
Based on a multi-sited ethnography, Silvan Pollozek’s dissertation develops multiple flat, symmetrical and complex accounts of the inter-organisational and transnational circulation of data in the realm of the Frontex Joint Operation Poseidon. By focusing on frictions and several modes of infrastructuring, it outlines a heterogeneous and fragmented data space and analyses the effects this information infrastructure has on practices and processes of European border control.
