Martín Fonck is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in the Chair of Sociology of Science at the Department of Science, Technology and Society (STS), TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology. He completed his PhD at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society and the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich (LMU). He investigates debates on the futures of environmental technologies from ethnographic and historical perspectives. For the last few years, he has focused on geothermal energy futures and now at TUM he is expanding his research to carbon storage technologies. He was a research associate at the Research Institute for Sustainability - Helmholtz Centre Potsdam, bringing together scholars, scientists, artists, and others interested in the intersection of energy futures and geoscience. At TUM, he is also studying transformations of institutions and expertise cultures in the context of the climate crisis.
